I regret never winning the Premier League – Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has admitted he regrets never winning the Premier League title during his time at Liverpool.

The Reds captain will play his last match at Anfield on Saturday against Crystal Palace, before departing for Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy in June.

“It is not the only regret, I think it is the biggest,” former England skipper Gerrard told Football Focus.

“I would love to say that I have got the full collection, it would be the icing on the cake”, he added.

The former England skipper almost won the league with Liverpool last season, but slipped in a crucial home game against Chelsea, allowing Demba Ba to score.

Brendan Rodgers’ men eventually finished second, two points behind winners Manchester City.

“You are always going to have incredible moments and you are also going to have some cruel lows as well,” Gerrard continued.

“I also look at other FA Cup Finals that I have missed out on and the second Champions League Final in 2007.

“Nobody’s journey ever goes smoothly, mine certainly hasn’t, but I am certainly proud of it and I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

Gerrard has made over 700 appearances in 17 seasons at Merseyside.
