A woman suspected to be a child kidnapper who was nabbed and paraded naked on Aka road, Okoko in the Ojo Local Government Area, LGA, of Lagos state, yesterday, has confessed to the crime.
The suspect was reportedly usually seen around the area behaving like a lunatic, but allegedly regained sanity when she was apprehended trying to abduct a school child.
The female kidnapper was caught at about 7a.m.
An irate mob who pounced on her, handed her over to the Okoko Division Police Station afterwards where she was paraded before newsmen.
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, told newsmen that the case had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti.
Confessing before newsmen, the unnamed child abductor said she belonged to a 27-woman syndicate from Benin Republic.
She said, “We were 27 women that came as a syndicate from Benin Republic. Each woman was given five phones to contact their buyers once the targets, mainly little children, were found.
“We then discard the phone after transactions to avoid been traced. The abduction is for outright sale, not for a ransom.”
