Popular Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade has debunked allegation that she was a tax defaulter.

Following her ongoing #DontPushMe campaign on Twitter which she started over poor power supply in Lagos state, reports emerged that the actress does not pay tax and as such, had no right to call out the government on tax matters.

Recall that on her social media war (#DontPushMe campaign) with the Nigerian government, Omotola is known for addressing serious societal issues.

She had recently lashed out at the Lagos State Government, LASG, asking if they would refund all she had spent on buying herself security, fuel and maintaining her road after having paid her tax.

She had also described the state as insensitive.

Meanwhile, as reported by E24-7 Magazine on Monday, Omotola, ‘had never filed her personal income tax return papers.’

The allegations against the diva said “It is unfortunate she has become so vocal, criticising the government but ignorant of her obligation as a citizen to pay tax.

“She is not tax compliant. She failed to know that it is from the tax that she and others pay that government will provide all the amenities and infrastructures she mentioned.

“She needs a lot of education,” the report had claimed.

However, reacting to this, the award winning actress in a chat with Pulse TV, said the claim that she was a tax defaulter was false.

She said, “That is not correct at all, we will send out a press release very soon.

“We are working with the government to find out who released that article,” the actress noted.
