Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, yesterday denied report that he has abandoned the state.
Speaking through his media aide, Ahmed Tukur, the governor stated that he was in the state performing his constitutional duties.
The statement said the allegation was not only malicious but the figment of the imagination of bitter oppositions of the governor who are out to create confusion using devilish assumptions to achieve selfish goals.
The statement reads in part, “The publication needed clarification but for reason best known to the writer who neither contacted the deputy governor, Silas Agara nor did he get across to any government official for clarification as claimed.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Al-Makura is not missing but has been conducting the affairs of the state as enshrined by the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria.
“There is also no iota of truth in the said publication that the governor travelled without officially handing over to his deputy Silas Agara because of a disagreement between the two leaders.
“The governor and his deputy are having a very cordial working relationship that the people of the state can attest to as well as Senator Abdullahi Adamu and other stakeholders in the state who are happy with the developmental strides of the governor” he explained.
It said, “The allegation by masterminders of the report of an imaginary face off between the Governor, his Deputy and Senator Abdullahi Adamu only demontrates their envy of the cordiality and good working relationship between the political leaders in the state and are working very hard to create disaffection and divert their attention from their effort to bring the much needed dividends of democracy.”
