The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has disclosed that he acquired 95 per cent of his wealth before joining politics, explaining that he is wealthy because he comes from a blessed family and at the same time hardworking.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC Hausa service, he said, “I come from a blessed family. I come from a family where my parents were opportuned and after that I worked hard in the private sector and I think I have worked hard for everything that I have. I made 95 per cent of my asset before I joined government”.

The Senate President, who is currently facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, over allegations of falsely declaring assets when he served as governor of Kwara State, expressed confidence that he would be cleared of the charges against him and he would continue to serve in public offices.
