I’m still in Ondo guber race – Senator Alasoadura

Senator representing Ondo Central in the National Assembly, Tayo Alasoadura, said at the weekend that he had not dumped his governorship ambition.

Alasoadura is one of the aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress, APC, nomination to contest the November 26 governorship election in the state.

There had been rumours that the lawmaker had abandoned his aspiration due to the demise of his wife, Olajumoke.

But Alasoadura, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), dispelled the rumours while presenting a bus and N1million to the APC state secretariat.

He said: “Today makes it exactly 38 days since the demise of my wife. She struggled while on earth for me to become governor of the state. In keeping her memory alive and in order not to demoralise my supporters, I will continue with the gubernatorial race.”

The lawmaker, who said the donations were for the growth of the party, called for unity among the APC governorship aspirants.

“Ondo state has found itself in a very difficult situation in the hands of those running it at present. We need to eschew acrimony and unite in order to form the next government and take the state out of the economic gloom,” Alasoadura said.

Chairman of the party, Isaac Kekemeke, advised other chieftains to take a cue from Alasoadura by contributing to the development of the party.
