I’m still authentic Ondo APC chairman, aggrieved members want to loot party’s treasury &

Embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, Hon, Isaac Kekemeke has said he still remains the authentic chairman of the party.

He added that those who signed his removal letter had no such power to remove him, stressing that only the National Executive Committee of the party had the legal power to sack him.

Kekemeke, who spoke to reporters at his residence in Akure, the state capital said the aggrieved members were just angry because he had not allowed them to loot the party’s treasury.

He said “It means we have entered the second scene of the drama. I did say, it was a drama but that was act one, scene one. It appears to have moved to act two. If this people have within one week appointed two chairmen that showed it was a real drama.

“We should apply some culture on the way we fight, knowing fully well that we are one family and knowing fully well that we need to reserve all the energy required for the November 26, governorship election.

“Some of these people who are fighting, where were they when we had the real battle in the Presidential and National Elections? If they fought the way they are fighting then, probably we would have done better than we are doing now.

“It is unfortunately that a number of people flexing muscles, expend so much energy on intra-party crisis, and do little in inter-party struggle.

“I want to plead with them again that there would still be and there is still coming open and fair primary. They should use their energy to garner supports and solicit support rather than concentrate on destroying their party.

“This is indiscipline and it does not augur well for the party. I hear that there are some people who called themselves lawyers among them, they should go and read their constitution. Only the National Executive committee of the party can remove the Chairman, being a member of that body, so why wasting so much energy?

“My only fear is that I am beginning to suspect that they are fifth columnists that are trying to weaken the party and create imaginary division within the party so that they can go to another party. This is too familiar, the same method, weaken the party, demolise leaders, create imaginary division, cause confusion and before you know it, they across to another party. APC is too big for that kind of thing. This is not their previous party where you wake up and do what you want. This is not banana republic.

“Some of the allegations should sound funny to you. That I supported Jonathan, can you see they are still living in the past? Are these the allegations that I will be reacting to? The party says I am the chief executive accounting officer of the party, that I costodised the party property.

“They want to be selling party property. They said I should share money but I refused. They said there is N49million, let us touch it, I said no, that the money is intact. I don’t even spend party money to buy fuel; I don’t spend party money on my travels. I paid my bill on myself. What they want is that they want to share money, No! Money is not available”.
