Nigeria U-17 striker, Victor Osimhen, has insisted that he is focused on winning the FIFA U-17 World Cup, not breaking the tournament’s nine-goal record.
The Ultimate Strikers player, equalled the long-standing record of nine goals in a single championship, after he netted a late penalty in the 4-2 win over Mexico in the semi-finals.
Osimhen now jointly holds the record with France’s Florent Sinama Pongolle and Ivorian Souleymane Coulibaly.
“The most important thing is for us to win the trophy on Sunday and that would be the greatest achievement for us,” he said.
“I’m happy that I was able to match the record set by others in the past but that was never my ambition here.”
