The governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi at the weekend claimed that he is not a politician as people perceive but a child of God on a mission.
Umahi, who made this known when he addressed Ebonyians in diaspora and other relevant stakeholders during the Nigeria, UK Agric Summit, added that there was urgent need for all Igbos to redefine their character.
The governor also reiterated his readiness to partner Ebonyians in diaspora to develop the state.
He said: “One of the things you said here is the character and content of the character of Ebonyi man. We are known for our quality in character. We may not be rich but we are very rich in character.
“I don’t like public appearance, I tell people I am not a politician but people will ask what are you but I tell them I’m a child of God on a mission. We have to redefine the character of Igbo man and that is why we need to work on our character”
“Back home, we have done well; when we came in, the state was covered with darkness but we have illuminated the state not only within the state capital but in all the local government areas of the state. We also identified the cause of road failure in the state and that is why we started using concrete base on our roads and that is why we have a minimum of 15km of road going on in all the local government areas of the state ”
Responding, the President of Ebonyi State Union, Mr. Elias Igwe said they came to identify with the laudable development going on in the state under the able leadership of Governor Umahi.
