Kano Pillars captain, Gambo Mohammed, has admitted he is lucky to be alive, after he suffered a head injury last weekend, in a Match Day 12 fixture against Rivers United.
Gambo, who missed the start of last season, after sustaining gunshot injuries in an armed robbery attack, ruptured his tympanic membrane after a collision with Rivers United forward, Wilson Andoh.
“That I’m alive today is a miracle and I want to give glory to God for making me survive the incident on Sunday,” the striker told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“The doctors did a good job in helping me get back to my feet. I had a close shave with death once again after what happened last year.
“The good thing is that I’m alive to tell the story today.”
Gambo underwent further tests at the Murtala Mohammed Teaching Hospital in Kano on Wednesday and has been cleared of any complications from the injury.
He continued: “The doctors have certified me fit, but I still need to rest for a while before returning to action.
“So, I will not be part of the game against Shooting Stars this weekend.”
