Niger State Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has distanced himself from the presidential campaign posters of Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and Governor of Rivers State Chibuike Amaechi in Minna, the state capital.
In a statement made available to DailyPost on Tuesday, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor , Danladi Ndayebo, denied his boss’s connection in the development.
The posters bearing the image of Lamido as presidential candidate and Amaechi as running mate, recently re-emerged in Minna.
Aliyu, according to the statement, said that no government organ or himself was serving as campaign agents for the two serving Governors.
He described the surfacing of the posters in the state as the handiwork of political jobbers and therefore advised the members of the public not to link the posters to it or any government official.
‘‘Those who pasted the posters are neither agents of the state government nor that of the Governor; they also do not have the sympathy of government or any of its officials,’’
“The Niger state government would continue to respect the decision of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, which has placed a ban on all forms of campaigns ahead of the 2015 general elections,” the statement added.
