I had ‘fruitful’ discussion with protesting NLC, TUC members – Osinbajo

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday met with the organised Labour during a protest march to the Presidential villa, Abuja.

This was disclosed by the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande on his twitter handle @akandeoj.

He wrote: “Ag. President Osinbajo welcomed & interacted with reps of NLC, TUC & CSO protesters who marched to Aso Rock. It was a fruitful discussion”.

DAILY POST earlier reported that the organised Labour comprising the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, staged a protest to the Presidential villa, demanding good governance and upward review of minimum wage.

President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, while addressing the protesters before the march, said it was “criminal” for government not to pay salaries and pensions.

Wabba said the demand for upward review of workers’ minimum wage “is non-negotiable.”

“There is absence of good governance, with that absent, we are at the receiving end. So we march for good governance,” he said.
