I doubt if I could stay as long as Ferguson as a manager – Conte

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has described former Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson as a role model, but says he may not be able to replicate the career of the legendary coach as he expects to retire at a much younger age.

Sports Director of the Stamford Bridge outfit, Michael Emenalo, had hoped that the Italian manager goes on to handle the Blues “forever” but the former Juventus boss is unsure as to whether he could continue for as long as the Scot.

Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League, and a host of other achievements during his reign at the Old Trafford and Conte revealed his respect for the longevity of successes achieved by him (Ferguson) and Arsene Wenger.

Conte said at a press conference ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie, “You are talking about two monsters, two great managers.

“For me, fantastic managers because Sir Alex Ferguson is a good example for me.

“When I see him, but also when I see Arsene, they are a big example for me. I hope to have not completely their career, but 10 years, yes. It’s enough for me.

“Twenty more years? Now I’m 47. I prefer that my wife doesn’t listen to this. This is our life. Football is our life, with this pressure, with all. Football is our life and it’s right to continue to live in football. In the moment that football is not in our life, I think probably we die.”
