Secretary to Edo State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, yesterday banned solidarity visits to his office.
He gave the warning sequel to the directive by Governor Adams Oshiomole that appointees should immediately get down to business of governance and stop wasting time.
Ihonvbere in an interview said “My focus now is how to assist our Comrade Governor who has already laid the foundation for development so that we all can take the state to the next level.”
Oshiomhole had noted that the reason for appointing Prof. Ihonvbere’s as SSG, was to help strengthen his cabinet, adding that “the task of a second term is more challenging and we need to do more for our people.”
The SSG stated that he needed to be focused and avoid any distraction saying “I don’t want courtesy visits, no receptions for now to enable me focus and do my job.”
Prof. Ihonvbere contested the governorship primaries of the Peoples’ Democratic Party but switched allegiance to Oshiomole when he lost to General Charles Airhiavbere.
