Andre Schurrle has insisted that he has no regrets about his time at Chelsea and the manner in which he left the club.
The German forward sealed a £24m move to Wolfsburg in the winter window, but admitted he wanted to stay with the Premier League leaders.
Schurrle had fallen behind in Jose Mourinho’s pecking order, behind Oscar, Eden Hazard and Willian at Stamford Bridge. He says all he ever desires is to play regular football.
“I wanted to stay but the last weeks or last month I tended towards changing something because I wanted to do what is fun for me and that is to play football,” the 24-year-old said.
“I could only do it briefly at Chelsea in the past week. I will never regret this [playing for Chelsea].
“I still love this club, the staff are amazing. I developed my game. I improved myself there. I was a different player when I came to Chelsea. It helped me a lot.”
