I don’t own properties in Dubai – Ex-Minister refutes media reports

The Minister of Transport in the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Idris Umar has debunked reports in the media claiming that he owns properties in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

While also denying speculations that he had relocated to the gulf nation and was taking refuge there, he insisted that he is in his Abuja residence and has no reason to flee the country.

A statement issued by his media aide, Innocent Ebirim, which made this clarification stressed that the former lawmaker does not own any property in Dubai and he is in Abuja at his usual place of abode and has no reason whatsoever to hide in faraway Dubai.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had at his just-concluded visit to the UAE, signed a number of bilateral agreements with the government of that country, one of which will make the federal government take possession of properties and loots of past government officials who stashed stolen funds in that country.

Following the agreements, Senator Umar was named in media reports among those likely to be affected.
