One Linus Nlemadim, a kidnap suspect from Egbelu Obube in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State who was arrested in connection with the recent kidnap of one Eziopara Ben Anyanwu, an American-based indigene of the same autonomous community, has opened up to say he was not the only one who carried out the act.
He expressed readiness to reel out the names of his colleagues and partners in the crime.
DAILY POST learnt that the suspect, who made the promise soon after his arrest, vowed yesterday, August 6th that he would not die alone.
He said, “My accomplices who were earlier arrested disclosed our top secret and for this reason, I will speak up.”
He said quizzically, “What’s the worst that can happen?”
A source who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, said: “True to my threat, the suspect released his colleague’s name (withheld). This led to the arrest of his accomplice from Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.
“I believe they will be telling the police all they know about the alleged crime,” the source added.
A community leader also disclosed that the two suspects, who linked Linus Nlemadim to the deal, were natives of Upe and Umunam in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.
The source said one of the kidnappers was caught when he went to Umuovum, Ulakwo to sell a stolen handset. The man, who indicated interest in buying of the phone unlocked it, saw the images of the kidnapped Ben Anyanwu, and quickly notified the police.”
The state Police Command said investigations are ongoing and other members of the gang will soon be apprehended.
