Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, has admitted that he could be facing “the end of the world” and end up in the labour market like Jose Mourinho, if results don’t improve.

The Red Devils have not won in their last five matches and Van Gaal welcomes Norwich City to Old Trafford on Saturday needing a win.

Speaking about Mourinho’s sack, the Dutchman says it was a “big surprise” to see him go, but stated that he could face similar fate.

“I know that, the players know that, my staff know that,” Van Gaal said.

“We have to win, because, if you lose, also for me, it’s the end of the world.

“We know that in advance [if results are poor, managers are vulnerable]. Jose also knows that, but it’s this world.

“What can I say? It was a big surprise for me, I didn’t expect it.

“He’s a fantastic manager with a record that nobody has in this football world, but it is still possible to be sacked.

“I have said this, last week or the week before, the main thing is always first, the results, and second, the chemistry between players, manager and his staff.

“I cannot judge what was happening in Chelsea, but I was very surprised to see Mourinho sacked.”
