“I can’t choose where to play for the Nigeria” – Ighalo

Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo, has said he is ready to play for his country, no matter the venue that is picked by the Nigeria Football Federation.

There is currently an ongoing disciplinary issues between the NFF and captain Vincent Enyeama, over the choice of Kaduna, where Nigeria played their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

Ighalo insists he does not have such problems.

“I am a professional player, anywhere the NFF take the team to, I am ready to give my best,” Ighalo told completesportsnigeria.com.

“I can’t choose where to play for the NFF.

“We just have to go to anywhere they choose. Though the pitch in Kaduna was not the best, the Chadians also played on it. So, wherever they take us to, as long as it is in Nigeria, we will play there; the most important thing is to qualify for the 2017 AFCON.”

The Watford player, who scored the second goal as the Eagles beat Chad 2-0, revealed he was under pressure to score his first goal for the team.

“You need goals to boost your confidence,” he added. “You need goals to give you the courage to keep on fighting, that was why I ran quickly to pick the ball for the penalty kick.

“Also, we were playing at home, and were in front by just a goal, and you know one goal is not a guarantee that you’ve won the game. So, I wanted to score to make it 2-0, to make it safe for us.”
