I am planning for next season at Arsenal – Wenger

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said he is planning for next season, as if he is staying at the club.

The 67-year-old made it clear during his Friday press conference, that the uncertainty around his future, won’t affect transfer plans for the summer.

Multiple reports have claimed that the board have tabled a new two-year contract, for Wenger to extend his 21-year stay in North London.

“Of course I plan for next season,” Wenger said.

“That’s why I told you, do I stay for two months or 10 years, I plan for [the future]. I do my job exactly the same.”

Arsenal are sixth in the table ahead of the Manchester City game this weekend and Wenger said that the club can attract top talent regardless of his own status.

“I think Arsenal is a world brand today that is respected all over the world. And the Arsenal name is bigger than my name,” he said.

“And coming to Arsenal is more important. You don’t come to Arsene Wenger you come to Arsenal. At the moment we are not in a transfer mode, but we analyse where we have to strengthen. We are not in contact at the moment, or in negotiation, with players.”
