Oghenekaro Etebo has insisted he is not after personal glory and is only interested in leading Nigeria to winning gold in men’s football at the Olympic Games.
The Portugal-based forward was in fantastic form, scoring four goals as the Dream Team VI defeated Japan 5-4 in their first game on Friday.
“Scoring all the goals in this competition and not winning the gold medal would have amounted to a waste of effort and that’s not my target,” Etebo told NFF website.
“Yes, it would be great to see my efforts contributing to the success of the team, but if it will not lead us to the gold, then I don’t want it.”
Etebo is the first African to score four goals in a football match at the Olympics.
