Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure, says his team-mate, Kelechi Iheanacho, can become a great player if he continues to work hard.
The Nigerian starlet scored the second goal and put in a fine display, as City defeated Norwich 3-0 in the FA Cup third round last weekend.
Yaya Toure, who lost out to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the CAF African Footballer of the Year Awards last week, says he is Iheanacho’s mentor and very close to the forward.
“Yes, I am very close to Kelechi and he sees me as his mentor,” Yaya told SportingLife.
“I see him closely and I trust him and I have been trying to push him up. I know what I have done to encourage him to continue to believe in his talent.
“I see him as one of my younger brothers coming through one day. I hope that Kelechi can be one of the top players on the field in the future.”
