A father of two, Niyi Ajayi, has dragged his wife, Funke Ajayi of 20 years, before a magistrate court in Akure over his wife’s nonchalant attitude towards their home.
Ajayi, prayed the court to dissolve his 20-year-old marriage, accusing his wife of packing out of their matrimonial home, abandoning him and their first child who is still very ill.
He said that his wife stopped cooking for him since the past 13 years of their marriage.
He told the customary court that he was tired of the marriage because of Funke’s attitude towards him.
In her response, Funke denied the allegation saying that she had been faithful and diligent in all her duties as a wife and mother.
Funke accused her husband of being a chain smoker, adding that she was ready for the separation if the court gives its order.
The court however ruled that the couple should allow peace to reign in their marriage and advised the petitioner to be tolerant.
The matter was later adjourned to April 1, 2013 for further hearing.
