Hughes says Stoke City capable of halting Chelsea’s winning run

Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes says his team will halt Chelsea’s winning streak.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal, Antonio Conte’s men have won 12 straight games in the Premier League.

The Blues are currently top of the English Premier League table.

“They’re very strong at the moment. They have a formation that they find is working very well for them,” Hughes said in yesterday’s press conference ahead of the match.

“They have a manager who has good experience. He’s gone in and implemented his plans very quickly.

“They’re on a great run, but that has to come to an end at some point. Why can’t we be the team that does that.

“We’re more than capable of getting a result. We showed for the first 30 minutes at Liverpool that we can be a threat.

“Goals change games, that happened at Liverpool, but we need to learn to control games for longer periods and remain positive.

“Playing the top teams is always tough. I’d rather set up and be positive to try and affect teams.

“We’ve lost games where we should have done better, we’ve had games where we’ve overachieved, we’re certainly progressing”, he added.

Hughes went on to praise Victor Moses, who played on loan at Stoke last season, following the Nigerian star’s impressive performances for Chelsea this season.

“I’m pleased for him, he’s doing very well. He had a good period here, gone back and is reaping the rewards at Chelsea”, he said.
