It was an unusually bubbly atmosphere on Wednesday at the Suleja Prison, as Huncho Foundation alongside corps members visited to identify with inmates.
The visit was everything from health talk to medical counseling, to Psychosocial sessions and even medical examinations.
The outreach which was organized by Huncho Foundation spearheaded by Mr. Zachary Aiji Audu in collaboration with Mustapha Yusuf was themed “In prison but not out of prison” was aimed at identifying with female prisoners in order to know their health status, ranging from HIV, Hepatitis, BMI and Blood Pressure, BP.
Mr Zachary, who is presently undergoing his compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, used the outreach as part of his community service as a corps member and also a response to the outcry from prisoners to the federal government over poor health services in the prison.
The visit was a smashing success as the prisoners identified with the corps members, expressing their joy that they were not forgotten by fellow Nigerians.
The female prisoners numbering 35 were made to undertake various medical tests, ranging from Hepatitis, HIV, BMI, Blood sugar to know their status in order to maintain a healthy living even in prison.
Mr. Zachary, a well-known philanthropist has empowered Nigerian students both here and abroad, widows and has equally sponsored less privileged children to school with the proceeds from his farm (Huncho Farms)
