Six Catholic Seminarians of St Joseph Paris, Ikot-Ekpene, Akwa Ibom state, on Monday, lost their lives in a fatal auto crash.

DAILY POST reports that the Seminarians, who were 16 on board their missionary vehicle, were on their way to Community Encounter programme in Enugu state from Ikot-Ekpene when the ill-fated incident happened.

A source reliably told DAILY POST that the driver was on top speed when one of the rear tyres burst. He said the driver lost control and the bus somersaulted, leaving six of them in the pool of their blood ( graphic photo). One of those killed was identified simply as Emmy, believed to be in his late 20’s, and another, Dozie whom our source described as the future hope of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Okofia Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra state.

DAILY POST learnt that the 10 survivors are now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital, while the deceased have since been deposited at the morgue.

As at press time, all efforts to reach the Enugu high-way command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, were abortive.

Meanwhile, DAILY POST recalls that on February 9, four Catholic nuns were confirmed dead in an auto crash which occurred in Cross Rivers state.

The fatal accident which occurred along the Nkarasi/Alok axis of the Ikom-Ogoja highway in the state claimed the lives of four unidentified catholic nuns, leaving two severely injured.
