How Reverend Adetiloye stopped cultism in Anglican Communion – Okoh

Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, yesterday disclosed that the late Most Rev. Abiodun Adetiloye’s name would not easily go into oblivion because of his efforts in evangelism and abolition of secret societies in the Anglican community.

Rev. Okoh in a statement on the demise of Adetiloye, described the late cleric as “a battle-axe in God’s hands, a missionary par excellence and the Apostle of time”.

Okoh said, “Bishop Adetiloye, who was educated both locally and in the United Kingdom, became Bishop of Ekiti in 1970 where he faced head-long, the menace of secret societies and cults, first in Ekiti Diocese.

“He, not only made inroads but broke the backbone; with the result that today, secret societies and cults have nowhere to hide their heads in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).”

The late Adetiloye was the Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion between 1988 to December 1999.

He passed on, just 11 days to his 83rd birthday.
