How Pogba missed out on FIFA Best XI by two votes

Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, only missed out on a place in the FIFPro World XI by two votes.

FIFA unveiled the best 11 players in each position from 2016, at their Best Award ceremony on Monday in Zurich.

No Premier League player made the team, which had nine players from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Pogba came close to joining Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta in the all-star midfield three, missing out to Toni Kroos by two votes, the smallest margin for a player not being selected in history.

FIFA said: “The closest call was the third midfield position, with Kroos narrowly beating Pogba by two votes.

“It is the smallest margin ever in the 12-year World XI history to decide on inclusion in the World XI.”
