How Nollywood actor Clem Onyeka foresaw his death


The remains of upcoming Nollywood actor, Clems Onyeka, who was fatally hit by a bullet have been taken to a mortuary.

Onyeka, who recently won the Best Upcoming Actor award had few weeks ago requested for an interview to celebrate his success.

He reportedly joked with the newspaper entertainment editor saying, “When will you write something about me, is it when I am dead?”

It’s such a tragic turn of events that Onyeka died weeks after this.

Onyeka, known for his movie, ‘Sorrowful ‘Kingdom, had just concluded work on another one- Widow’s Testimony.

Condolence messages have been pouring onto his Facebook page.

The 37-year-old actor was shot along Summit Express, Asaba, Delta State while the police and armed robbers, who attacked a new generation bank were engaged in a fierce gunfight.

He died on the spot.

An eyewitness said the van was ambushed around 2pm along DBS road, Asaba, by the armed robbers, who were operating in Jeep and Sienna cars.

In the process of trying to seize the van, the police escort resisted, resulting in a severe gun battle between the robbers and the police.

According to sources, the armed robbers succeeded in killing a police officer, while one of the armed robbers was said to have been shot by the officer.

A stray bullet also hit and killed Onyeka, while he was returning from a filming location.

When the robbers realized that the police was gaining the upper hand, they escaped with their wounded colleague.

Speaking on the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, said “It is apparent that the robbers laid ambush for the bullion van and the police escorts that were coming from Awka. But the bullion van driver was able to manoeuvre his way.

“While the policemen engaged the robbers, one of the robbers dropped down as the shootout went on, but his colleagues were able to carry him and escaped with him as the police fire became too hot for them”.
