Neymar could buy himself out of his Barcelona contract to force a move to Paris Saint-Germain, after La Liga rejected PSG’s payment of his release clause.
The French giants are set to secure a world-record deal for the Brazilian, worth a staggering £199million (€222m).
Lawyers representing Neymar and PSG arrived at the La Liga offices in Madrid on Thursday, planning to deposit the fee to activate the release clause. But it was refused.
Neither Barca or La Liga can block the deal and the Spanish organisation have no legal grounds to reject the money.
However, if the player himself turns up to pay the amount himself, La Liga would reportedly not be able to say no.
