An officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Ochefu Chris, attached to the Kuje unit command was earlier this week, ran over by a vehicle while he was controlling traffic.
The incident happened at about 11.21am on Tuesday when an unidentified man, driving an unmarked Nissan SUV heading towards Tipper Garage knocked him down, Daily Trust is reporting.
Confirming the incident on Friday, the Kuje Unit Commander of the FRSC, Mr. O. S Gbo Gbo, reportedly said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Abuja National Hospital morgue.
According to him, the remains of the deceased would be conveyed to Benue State, where he hailed from.
Speaking on the incident, a witness who identified himself as Usman Sabo said, “The attitude of the driver almost provoked some sympathisers, especially cyclists, who charged at him, but he was quickly arrested by the police.”
Sabo added that the officer died on the way to hospital and the vehicle had been impounded by the FRSC unit command.
