How man duped victim of N1.7m with fake euro in Delta

One Orjiakor Chima, was weekend paraded before newsmen in Delta State for allegedly defrauding his victim, Abdullahi Shuaibu, to the tune of N1, 794, 500, during exchange of euro currency.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Zanna Ibrahim, who paraded the suspect with the fake currency notes, said Shuaibu realized hours after the transaction, that the suspect had duped him.

Chima, 30, a resident of 34 Amafeke Street, in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, went to his victim’s office on Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Delta State capital, to dupe him.

The CP said during the transaction, 3,700 euros of 37 pieces of fake 100 euro notes were exchanged to naira equivalent of N1, 794,500.

Ibrahim said, “After the day’s business, the victim discovered that all the 37 pieces of euro notes were fake.

“On 15/11/2016 about 1700 hours, the same customer, identified as Orjiakor Chima, returned to the complainant’s office for another transaction.

“The suspect was arrested after detectives from ‘A’ Division, Asaba, were alerted and mobilized to the scene.

“Officials at the Anti-Fraud Unit, State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, has commenced investigation into the case,” the CP said, adding that 87 other pieces in 100 euro denomination, suspected to be fake, were recovered from the suspect.
