One Mrs. Floyinka Ayinde, a 59-year-old landlady suspected to be a pipeline vandal, has been arrested and detained at Idimu division.
The landlady, P.M News gathered, is allegedly involved in vandalising NNPC pipeline in Isheri Olofin area of Lagos State after she connected a pipe inside her water well to NNPC pipeline and has been reportedly siphoning petrol illegally for the past three years.
This was uncovered at KML 1, LASU Road, Iyana Odo bus stop in Isheri Olofin, a suburb of Lagos, by officers of the Anti-Vandalism Intelligence Unit Team B set up by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase. They acted on a tip-off.
According to reports, Ayinde allegedly admitted after her arrest that vandals have been operating in her house for the past three years and she reported to the NNPC officials but they did not do anything about it.
The suspect was said to have denied her involvement in the act, adding that she made a mistake for not informing the police because she relied on NNPC who asked her not to worry.
As at press time, efforts to reach the police boss, CSP Valentine Olumese, proved abortive but police sources alleged Ayinde was still being detained at the station where her statement was taken.
