The immediate past governor of Kano State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has said that he has the solution to the spate of insecurity ravaging the country.

Kwankwaso was speaking in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Wednesday shortly after meeting with PDP delegates in continuation of his consultations with party members in a bid to realise his presidential ambition.

He pointed out that the experience he gathered over the years as minister in charge of Police affairs and Defence, has equipped him with the knowledge needed to address the security challenges in the country.

Kwankwaso, a serving senator, said that for anyone to sufficiently address the security challenges in the country, he must first identify the different types of insecurities such as food shortages, poor health facilities, poor infrastructure all of which contributed to the security challenges.

According to him, poor roads were often referred to as “death traps”, just as food insecurity leads to hunger and starvation with the attendant crimes, while poorly equipped hospitals leads to avoidable deaths.

“So for anyone to sufficiently address the security challenges, he must address all these and the security situations will improve dramatically,” he said.

Senator Kwankwaso also said that he had no problems with restructuring as long as it represented the view of majority of Nigerians.

“When people asked me what I think about restructuring, I also asked them the type of restructuring they meant. Is it the type where we go back to the old regional system of government?” he asked

The presidential hopeful said that if eventually elected, he will convene a meeting with all relevant stakeholders to determine the type of restructuring the country needs.
