How gunmen allegedly stoned man to death in Ebonyi

A middle-aged man in Iyiazu, Oshiri community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chikezie Agu, was Wednesday, stoned to death by unidentified gunmen numbering eight.

The deceased was allegedly intercepted by the hoodlums on his way to a nearby village, while on his bike.

The gunmen had reportedly shot at the deceased who did not die. They thereafter, stoned him to death.

Although the reason for the attack remained unknown at press time, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP George Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said when the hoodlums shot Agu and he did not die instantly; they battered him on the head with stones until he died.

The PPRO added that the deceased’s motorcycle was also set ablaze by the gunmen.
