Tyson Fury was so confident he would defeat Wladimir Klitschko, that he put £200,000 on himself to win.
The new heavyweight champion of the world, saw off favourite Klitschko in their bout in Dusseldorf on Saturday, in an unanimous decision.
The judges awarded the fight to Fury 115-112, twice, and 116-111.
It has now emerged that the Manchester-born boxer has doubled his stake.
Before the fight Fury’s uncle and trainer, Peter Fury, told the Lancashire Evening Post: “The two of them have had a sportsman’s bet… £200,000 each.
“If he wins, Tyson takes £400,000.”
Apart from his winnings from the best, Fury will earn up to £5m up from just taking part in the fight.
