How female candidate, Fatimoh Gildado, Alao-Akala’s son, Olamiju, 66 others won Oyo council el

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Orire North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs. Fatimoh Gildado has been announced by the returning officer for the council area as the only and the first democratically elected Chairperson for the council area in the just concluded local government election in Oyo State.

Gidado was among the 68 elected Chairmen announced by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), after scoring the highest votes in the election conducted in all the 610 wards, 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and the 35 newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) on Saturday.

She won the chairmanship seat of Orire North LCDA with 5,787 votes.

Others who were announced as Chairmen Sunday night in Ibadan, the state capital include, son of a former Governor of the state, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, Mr. Olamiju Alao-Akala, who won the chairmanship position in Ogbomoso North LGA with 9,026 votes.

Others include, Hon. Ayodeji Abass Aleshiloye (Oluyole LGA); Hon. Bashir Adebayo Adegoke (Ibadan North); Hon. Bimbo Omiyale (Ibadan South East LGA), Chief Bosun Ajuwon (Ibadan North West LGA), Adekunle Oladeji (Aare Latosa LCDA) and Hon. Niyi Adeagbo (Itesiwaju LGA) among others.

OYSIEC Chairman, Mr. Jide Ajeigbe, while addressing journalists around 8.10pm after the announcement of the election results on Sunday declared that all councillorship candidates of the APC won in the 610 wards.

Ajeigbe described the election as a successful exercise, thanking stakeholders for the roles played for the successful conduct of the election.

While commending residents of the state for conducting themselves orderly and peacefully throughout the period of the exercise, Ajeigbe remarked that the election was free, fair and credible.

He expressed appreciation to those that participated in the election for exercising their civic responsibility and complied with the electoral rules.

Ajeigbe said, ”It is, therefore, hoped that this kind of maturity exhibited before and during the conduct of the election will be sustained so that good democratic values be further achieved at the grassroots”.
