How ex-Benue governor, Suswam welcomed me into DSS detention – Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South Senatorial district has revealed that the former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam was the first person who welcomed him when the Department of State Services, DSS, detained him.

Speaking on order 42 of Senate rules on Wednesday, he explained that the immediate past governor of Benue was yet to be told of the reasons for his detention, despite being arrested before him.

Abaribe said he was accused of aiding and sponsoring the proscribed IPOB, adding that having been arrested at the gate of an Abuja hotel, his house was searched for 6 hours without any incriminating evidence.

The lawmaker, who is on administrative bail, said, “By Friday 22nd June, 2018, I was arrested at the gates of Hilton Hotel and was taken to my house for a search. which lasted for 6 hours.”

“I want to let the chamber know that I have been accused of aiding and sponsoring the proscribed IPOB.

“I met the former Governor of Benue state, Hon. Gabriel Susan who was the first to welcome me from freedom to detention.”

Abaribe however vowed that he will continue to speak the truth, even as he expressed the resolve to challenge his detention in court.
