The House of Representatives on Thursday witnessed a mild drama when a member of the House of Representatives from Kaduna, Adams Jagaba, announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Jagaba had earlier in Kaduna disclosed that he was dumping the ruling party to the opposition PDP.
Before making the announcement on the floor of the Green Chamber, he introduced himself thus: “I’m Hon Jagaba Adams Jagaba and I’m of the PDP.”
But Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara interrupted him.
He said: “No, no, Jagaba. You can’t do this to me.”
Immediately, members of the PDP started chanting their party’s name in jubilation, while members of the APC shouted “no, no.”
This lasted for a while before order was restored.
Dogara, after the atmosphere calmed, added “The truth is that I’m not aware and the House is not aware.
“As a ranking member, you know what to do. So, as far as we’re concerned, you’re still a member of APC.”
