How DELSU Student disarmed suspected armed robber in Delta community

A Delta State University, DELSU, Student, Oleh Campus, Ezechie Ifeanyi recently disarmed a suspected armed robber identified as Ukiri Akpoghene (21-year-old) around Palufe Area, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST reports.

The incident DAILY POST gathered occurred on April 24, 2017 at about 10pm.

A locally made cut to size gun was allegedly recovered from the suspect who was later handed over to the Police at Oleh.

Our Delta State Correspondent who was at the Oleh Police Station reports that the suspect allegedly accosted and robbed the Student who had just returned from the campus where he went to read and tried to dispossess him of his Samsung mobile phone at gun point.

It was gathered that the Student summoned courage, grabbed and struggled with the suspect as he tried to escape from the scene.

The student raised the alarm which attracted neighbors, many of whom were students as they gave the suspect the beating of his life before handing him over to the police the same night.

The Divisional Police Officer, Oleh, SP Hassan Isah declined comment on the matter but a police source within the division who craved anonymity confirmed the report.

“We arrested the student after he was disarmed by the Delsu Student. We also recovered a locally made cut to size gun from him. He will be charged to court and the law must take its place.”

Contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said,” I’m not aware but that’s good news. However, I will get across to the DPO and get back to you.”
