How Cross River’s ultra modern toothpick factory will improve State revenue – Ayade

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has said that the establishment of ultra modern toothpick processing factory in the state would improve the revenue base and offer employment to over 3, 000 youths.

He disclosed this in Ehuri community in Yakurr Local Government Area of the state while on inspection tour of the facility.

The factory, according to Governor Ayade would augment the revenue base of the state and offer employment to the people of the area, neighbourhood and the entire state in general.

He said that the people of the state would be employed in large number while raw materials sourced locally would increase revenue of the people.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Rosemary Archibomg said the factory was conceived following the need to offer employment to the people.

“As part of his drive to improve the revenue base of the state and create more job opportunities for the youths, Governor Ayade graciously established the factory in the area with a view to reducing crime rate in the state and engages the people on meaningful project.

“The factory would export its product to other countries, bringing foreign exchange to Nigeria.

“This factory would end the importation of toothpick and also add value to the Ekuri community where it is located.”

On his part, the project manager of the factory, Engr. Steve Takim said the project had almost being completed and all the equipment needed for the factory has been installed and test run in progress.

He said that the factory which has the latest equipment in toothpick manufacturing will produce 20 tons of toothpicks daily and substantially boost the revenue base of the state.
