Former Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard, has revealed that manager Antonio Conte used his “iron fist”, to bring out the best from Eden Hazard this season.
Hazard was heavily criticised last season, when he scored only four times in 31 appearances, as the Blues finished 10th in the Premier League.
This year, the 26-year-old played a crucial part, as Conte’s men won the league title, scoring 16 goals in 36 matches.
Lampard has revealed how the Italian handled a “difficult squad”.
“Antonio Conte took on a team in a bad place and there were a few individuals who had their worst seasons in Chelsea shirts and he fixed it,’ Lampard told the BBC.
“Mid-season there were rumours that Eden Hazard was being a bit difficult on the training field but Conte dealt with it immediately.
“He came down on it with an iron fist and then he put an arm around him and that has brought the best out in him.” A
