A witness Oluwatoyin Oke, told a Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday how she sold a property worth N260 million to Abba Maitama, an agent to former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh. Badeh is standing trial for alleged money laundering. Oke, the seventh prosecution witness, was led in evidence by the Prosecutor Rotimi Jacobs (SAN). She told the court that she built the property in the 90s’ and lived in it all through 2013. In her bid to sell the property, she contacted friends, of which one of them was Abba Maitama who got interested buyers. Oke told the court that the price of the property was beaten down from N300 million to N260 million after a thorough bargain. She, however, acknowledged and gave an order for inspection of the property during her stay abroad as the buyer was ready to pay in instalments. The witness said the first instalment was between 500, 000 and 550,000 dollars, while the second instalment was transferred through Abba into her account. The witness also confessed to have signed the original documents such as power of attorney, and deed of scale which were handed over to Abba on her return from abroad. The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, however, admitted in evidence the documents and adjourned the case to Nov. 2 and Nov. 3 for continuation of trial. (NAN)
