The police in Kano State say it has arrested a 35-year-old barber identified as Shamsu Isah, who allegedly raped and murdered a 21-year-old woman, Isaac Rejoice.
DAILY POST is reporting that the incident happened in the Karkasara Quarters of the state on August 3.
The suspect allegedly murdered his victim and buried her corpse in an uncompleted building at the quarters.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Musa Magaji, confirmed the arrest to DAILY POST on Thursday.
According to him, Isah was arrested, afterwards, he took police officers to the building where he buried the deceased.
The PPRO said, “The suspect has confessed and is currently with the police undergoing interrogation to ascertain the cause of the deceased’s death.
“He said he buried the deceased but denied killing her.
“According to him, he had attempted to rape her but as she was trying to run away, she was hit by a wood on the head and that led to her death.”
Mahaji said the police invited doctors from the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital to conduct autopsy on the deceased’s body.
“We are now waiting for the result and the Kano State Police Commissioner, Rabi’u Yusuf, has ordered that Isah be transferred from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for appropriate investigation.”
