The Ogun state Police command has ordered that an autopsy be carried out on the corpse of a 30-year-old housewife, Toyin Adeboye, whose death in Abeokuta, Ogun State led to the arrest of her husband.
The accused has also been transferred to the state Criminal investigation Department, Eleweeran from Ibara Police Division where he was initially detained for further investigations.
Dare was arrested because Toyin’s family members alleged that they suspected a foul play in her death. They insisted that the husband was a prime suspect in the death of the mother of two.
Subsequently, Toyin’s family members on Monday invited the police at the Ibara Division, and got Dare arrested and detained.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, ordered the transfer of the matter to the CID unit for proper investigations.
The State Police Spokesperson added that the Toyin’s corpse has been moved from the family house in the Imo area of Abeokuta where the incident occurred and taken to a mortuary to enable the CID get an autopsy report which would assist them in their investigations.
He said, “The Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the State CID. It’s a murder case and a division cannot handle that. The state CID will do a thorough investigation.
“The body of the woman has also been transferred to the mortuary. Since the state CID has taken over the matter, the next thing is for autopsy to be done on her.”
DailyPost had earlier reported that Toyin’s family had insisted that the deceased husband, Dare be questioned over the cause of his wife’s death and had also vowed not to bury her corpse until the truth is revealed.
