Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin has complied with his suspension from legislative duties for 180 days, which was slammed on him on Thursday.
He was neither seen in his office nor in the Green Chambers.
Checks by DAILY POST correspondent showed that suite 1.05 belonging to the former chairman, House Committee on Appropriations has been sealed by Sergeant-at-Arms, official security unit of the National Assembly.
In enforcing the suspension of this nature, Jibrin has been declared ‘persona non grata’, thus, if he is seen around the premises of National Assembly, he faces arrest and prosecution.
Jibrin will be absent for one year and two months, thereby losing his entitlements for the whole of this period, as well as the privileges attached to him by virtue of his position as member representing his federal constituency.
Part of casualties are his legislative aides (5) in number who may have to look for jobs elsewhere as their salaries and entitlements would be stopped.
Further inquiries revealed that directives stopping Jibrin’s entitlements and allowances and those of his legislative aides has been transmitted by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Omolori to Accounts department of the Assembly.
It could be recalled that Jibrin had accused the Speaker, Hon.Yakubu Dogara of fraudulent padding of 2016 budgets, a situation the House saw as an indictment of the members, thus making him to face the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
While declining invitation for him to answer charges levelled against him, he maintained that the matter has already been taking to court, hence, he would not oblige.
However, on Wednesday, the Committee which reverted back to the entire House, had in their report recommended that he be suspended with immediate effect.
