The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina, has appealed to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) to save the looming danger on the Ibadan axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which are accident prone to road users.
He made the appeal while speaking at his campaign office on Thursday.
Adesina said: “Very recently, I embarked on a thank You and consultative tour of all communities within my constituency as part of the electioneering promises I made to regularly meet with them to discuss the progress and development of every community.
“Like other Nigerians, we made use of the express road and were locked in traffic gridlock due to the bad portion at the Boluwaji-Sanyo axis of Ibadan where deep gully erosion is about cutting the road into two. It was an eyesore.”
“My interaction with our people (Ward 11 of Ibadan South East Local Government) got me aware of the complete neglect from FERMA despite several appeals and letters written. They decried the inability of the agency to come to their rescue.
“I want to use this medium to call on RCC; the contractor handling the expansion of the Oyo State axis of the Lagos-Ibadan express road, to urgently repair the deadly potholes within Ibadan, make it motorable and save road users from the agony of wasting their precious time in traffic snarl.”
Adesina equally appealed to residents around the Soka, Sanyo and Boluwaji areas and road users to exercise patience while passing through the road.
“Let FERMA see this appeal as a wake-up call to their constitutional responsibilities that requires palliative and proactive measures to forestall imminent danger which I personally do not pray or hope for,” he added.
The lawmaker also assured his constituents that hope is underway, stressing that he will soon begin to implement all his campaign promises he believes will bring about the long desired change.
