Hold Gani Adams-led OPC coordinator responsible for Ibadan clashes – OPC New Era tells Ajimobi

The crisis over who was responsible for the crisis that erupted in some parts of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital at the weekend has taken another dimension as the State chapter of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), New Era has called on the Oyo state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, Director of the State Security Service and all other security agencies to hold the Oyo state Coordinator of Otunba Gani Adams-led faction of OPC, Mr. Rotimi Olumo responsible for the series of mayhem recorded in some parts of Ibadan metropolis.

OPC New Era in a statement signed by Gbolahan Oladiran, its PRO, a copy of which was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday declared that members of the Gani Adams led faction led by Olumo has been launching series of attacks on members of the OPC New Era.

Oladiran while insisting that members of the OPC New Era have continued to be law abiding called on the Governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and other security agencies to save its members from further attacks.

He particularly pointed out that the Gani Adams faction of the OPC in Oyo state, led by Rotimi Olumo and one Akin Osa and others have concluded plans to continue launching daily attacking on its members and also disrupting the peace in Ibadan.

Oladiran said, “The Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, New Era is using this medium to inform the Oyo state government, the Commissioner of Police, Director of the State Security Service and all other security agencies in Oyo state to hold the Oyo state Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, Rotimi Olumo responsible for the series of mayhem recorded in some parts of Ibadan metropolis.

“The latest of such personal instigated mayhem is the one that happened on Saturday 27, January at Iya Keji Beer Parlour, Oke Ado area, where Rotimi Olumo instructed his killer squad led by Akin Osa, Sule Boko, Apatari and others to attack the trio of Toye, Pastor Segun and DJ Pako who are members of OPC New Era who were at the Beer Parlour to take drinks. It took the intervention of God and good Samaritans for them to escape the place without being killed by Olumo killer squad.

Oladiran in the statement alleged that Olumo and his colleagues have been terrorising New Era members under the guise of SARS.

He said, “Not satisfied that the boys escaped, Olumo led his gang members to attack the boys at their different houses dressing like SARS officers of the Nigerian Police Force. They were holding Pump action guns and rifles usually carried by men of the Nigerian Police Force.

“Some members of OPC New Era living in Akuro and its environs managed to escape but one of our members who go by the name Muri was shot dead and his corpse was taken away by Olumo and his gang members comprising of Akin Osa, Boko, Apatari and others. Uptill now, we are still looking for some of our members who became missing after the attack.

“In recent time, attack on law abiding members of OPC New Era has become a recurrent event in the hands of members of OPC Gani Adams in Oyo state. These same members of Gani Adams faction of the OPC in Oyo state on December 10, 2017 at Six Block, Aba Afa, Oluyole attacked our members who were holding their meeting as law abiding members of the OPC; the attack was reported at Sanyo police station in Ibadan.

He said the need to call Olumo and his faction to order was necessary to avoid what happened on September 7, 2017 where the National PRO of the OPC New Era, Comrade Adeshina Akinpule was nearly killed during an attack at Adamasingba stadium in Ibadan.

Oladiran said, “It would also be recalled that the National PRO of New Era, Comrade Adeshina Akinpelu was nearly killed last year September 7, 2017 at the behest of Gani Adams at Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.

“We use this medium to call on the Oyo state governor, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi and all security agencies in Oyo state, to save our members from the Gani Adams faction of the OPC in Oyo state, led by Rotimi Olumo, Akin Osa and others who are daily attacking our members and also disrupting the peace in Ibadan”.
