Hit and run vehicle kills unidentified motorcyclist in Warri

A hit and run vehicle, at about 7am this morning knocked down an unidentified motorcyclist along Warri/Sapele road near Police Officers Mess in Warri, Delta State.

DAILY POST reports that the unidentified motorcyclist was knocked down by the the hit and run vehicle which was on a high speed while

trying to reverse on the same road.

The driver of the hit and run vehicle zoomed off the scene for fear of not being lynched by the angry mob.

The incident, however, caused serious tension as residents of the area were afraid to dish out information to the

police until the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon. Mofe Matthew Edema informed the Divisional Police Officer of “A” Divisional Police Headquarters in Warri, CSP Kevin Zuokumor on phone.

Quickly, a team led by the Divisional Transport Officer of the Command, SP Nicholas Nnachi dashed into the area and conveyed the remains of the deceased to the Central Hospital Morgue in Warri.

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report saying, “the police has commenced preliminary investigation into the matter and to also track and arrest the driver of the hit and run vehicle.”
