The herdsmen have become a thorn in the flesh of Benue farmers following the incessant burning of houses, displacement of persons and gruesome killing of innocent citizens.
The herdsmen, armed with dangerous weapons had, last Sunday attacked about 13 Benue villages and have killed more than 45 persons, injuring and displacing scores of others. A few weeks ago, they had also attacked villages in Guma and Gwer West LGAs.
Addressing newsmen on the issue, Ter Tyoshin 11, Chief Daniel Abomtse, who spoke on behalf of the communities, said marine surveillance should urgently be stationed in Gbaji, a community in Gwer West LGA, which, according to him, shares boundary with Doma, in Nasarawa state. He said the amphibian forces should similarly be introduced in Guma, Makurdi, Agatu and other affected border villages.
The royal father noted that the herdsmen usually settle at Lokobi and Akpanaja villages in Nasarawa State before crossing into Benue to kill and destroy lives and property.
